Summary

Because of a sluggish initiation, plenty of managers still have time to pounce.Since those darn kids can’t have all the fun, a handful of veterans — most notably on the mound — are demanding everyone’s attention as April nears its conclusion.Note: Rostered rates are from Yahoo leagues as of Monday night.Import your team to My Playbook for instant Waiver Wire advice >>Alex Kirilloff (OF – MIN): 31% Rostered Because he’s instead produced just one single in 18 plate appearances since Friday’s promotion, there’s still time to snag Minnesota’s neophyte.Kirilloff became the first player to start a playoff game in his major league debut, an indication of how much the Twins like the 23-year-old outfielder. An intriguing streamer at Kansas City, he allowed four hits, three walks, and five runs before getting pulled one out into the game.He now has 2.30 ERA and 1.17 WHIP.Some pitchers never recover from such damage, but Gibson has suddenly transformed into an ace, allowing two runs in his last four starts. He’s improved his career ERA and WHIP to 3.41 and 1.22, respectively.Perhaps the schedule plays the biggest role in his resurgence, yet it gives fantasy managers one more gift in a home matchup against the Rockies. This April, his regressed 4.08 ERA now doesn’t match a 3.15 xFIP and 26.4% K rate that’d represent the highest clip of his 16-year career. The 39-year-old isn’t suddenly throwing gas, so the strikeouts likely won’t last. After getting shredded to a 6.48 ERA last season, Bumgarner began 2021 by yielding 22 hits, eight walks, and 17 runs in three starts. Not just from a fantasy perspective, but from the lens of merely justifying a big-league rotation spot. Then he went seven innings without allowing a hit or walk — Ozzie Albies reached base on a Nick Ahmed throwing error — against a formidable Braves lineup. He also allows too many fly balls, so Staumont could easily pitch himself out of this spot in the next few weeks. But hey, he’s got two saves in three days with a career 2.57 ERA and considerable strikeout upside. Likely omitted from the Opening Day roster for nefarious service-time reasons, the 23-year-old infielder has gone 6-for-14 with four walks and four doubles. The 25-year-old has spent the last six games perched atop Arizona’s batting order, and he’s utilized that role to score seven runs with two doubles, a triple, and a homer. While the 26-year-old has yet to validate the hype at the plate, let’s not forget his 21 homers in just 83 games in 2019.Rougned Odor (2B – NYY): 3% From our Lineup Assistant – which provides your optimal lineup, based on accurate consensus projections – to our Waiver Wire Assistant – that allows you to quickly see which available players will improve your team, and by how much – we’ve got you covered this fantasy baseball season.Andrew Gould is a featured writer at FantasyPros.
