Summary

"The compound used in this study does just that and shows by correcting brain levels of hydrogen sulfide, we could successfully reverse some aspects of Alzheimer's disease," says collaborator on the study Matt Whiteman, Ph.D., professor of experimental therapeutics at the University of Exeter Medical School. The Johns Hopkins Medicine team and their international collaborators plan to continue studying how sulfur groups interact with GSK3β and other proteins involved in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease in other cell and organ systems. The team also plans to test novel hydrogen sulfide delivery molecules as part of their ongoing venture.Johns Hopkins MedicinePosted in: Medical Science News | Medical Research News | Medical Condition NewsTags: Aging, Alzheimer's Disease, Blood, Blood Vessel, Brain, Cell, Cell Metabolism, Cell Signaling, Compound, Drugs, Enzyme, Heart, Medical Research, Medical School, Medicine, Metabolism, Molecule, Nerve, Neurodegeneration, Neurodegenerative Disease, Neuroscience, pH, Protein, Public Health, Research, Sulfur, TherapeuticsCancel reply to commentProfessor Dipanjan PanNews-Medical talks to Dipanjan Pan about the development of a paper-based electrochemical sensor that can detect COVID-19 in less than five minutes.Dr. Howard HuIn this interview, News-Medical speaks to Dr. Howard Hu about his latest research into cadmium and how it could be causing more severe pneumonia infections.Dr. Pria AnandNews-Medical talks to Dr. Pria Anand about her research into COVID-19 that suggests neurologic complications are common even in mild infections.
