By BETSY WOODRUFF SWAN06/16/2021 01:01 PM EDTLink CopiedThe U.S. Marshals Service doesn’t have the resources it needs to keep federal judges safe, according to a new report from an internal watchdog.The agency doesn’t have sufficient capabilities to monitor threats made on social media, the report found, and the home security system it provides for its protectees offers “limited or outdated equipment.” In addition, according to the new report from the Justice Department’s Inspector General, the Marshals Service needs to hire 1,200 more deputy U.S. marshals in order to meet its responsibility of ensuring the protection of more than 32,000 judges, prosecutors and court officials.
