A deal will not mean the end of hostilities though, as the parameters of such an event are likely to breed conflict not only between the US and China (in the best of scenarios), but also between the Trump administration and US-China hawks on both sides of the aisle (in the worst). The Trump administration is asking China to change the way it does business.
