Following the recent unveiling of the $35,000 Tesla Model 3 variant, followed by an announcement revealing March 14 as the launch date for the Model Y, there are fears that Tesla is launching both vehicles back-to-back in response to slowing customer demand. After waiting on ice for nearly two years, the $35,000 Model 3 was expected to herald Tesla’s long-awaited entry into the lower end of the market, which could boost sales significantly. These and other issues may possibly have contributed to a hopefully temporary pullback in consumer interest, resulting in underwhelming demand for the cut-price Model 3.Investors, meanwhile, have responded the way they always do – with panic and disappointment – as Tesla shares continue to trade around $295 after recently dropping off a cliff.5-Day Price Chart of Tesla (Source: Yahoo Finance)One significant problem that Tesla will have to deal with regardless of whether or not sales figures rebound significantly is what to do with its maverick founder and CEO Elon Musk.
