Not to mention the hinge now gently creaks like an old gate, while the plastic screen groans every time I flip the phone open and closed.Worse yet for the Razr: The Galaxy Z Flip exists. And somehow, Samsung's folding clamshell phone is even a little cheaper than Motorola's—$1,380 for Sammy, $1,500 for Moto. That's when I realized I don't actually like the Razr. It's nice to hold when closed, and little touches like that would have greatly enriched the clamshell experience.A sample photo I shot with the Motorola Razr. It's not a pretty sight when the phone is open. Regarding the sounds the Razr makes when you open and close it, a Motorola spokesperson said it's "intrinsic to the mechanical movement of the phone." However, I didn't hear such sounds when I used the Galaxy Fold. When I mentioned I could feel bumps on the screen, the spokesperson said that's "due to the display’s pliability," adding that "it’s perfectly normal to feel these plates at times."Sure, and while I do have to note that I haven't had any issues with the phone (yet), none of these answers make using the phone any more pleasant.Take away the hinge, and this phone feels like it should be worth around $500, if not less.
